Well, I used to respect AMC as a network for, well, American Movie Classics. Apparently, the standard for "Classic" in AMC's eyes is a lot different (lower?) than in my own eyes. No, I take that back. Apparently, the standard for "Classic" in AMC's eyes is much more similar to my own standard than I would have ever thought (dreamed?). Of course, it's been well established that my idea of "Classic" is generally much different than the typical movie aficionado, which is why I'm somewhat concerned with the apparent turn AMC is taking.

Why do ramble on about "Classics" and AMC? Because I came home from supper tonight to find that AMC was showing John Carpenter's They Live!. Yes, the same They Live! That starred "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Yes, the same John Carpenter who brought us such treasures as

Of course, I absolutely love <a href="http://us.imdb.com/Title?0096256" target="drmellow"><i>They Live!</i></a>, so I was a little disappointed that it was almost over when I tuned in.
