How did all this about the milk-off start? Honestly, I'm not sure. Over the Independence Day weekend, we went to visit some friends in South Carolina. D and I ended up talking about how much we loved milk and about eating unreasonable amounts of things at one time -- we might have been talking about the egg scene in Cool Hand Luke -- and one of us made the statement that we could drink an entire gallon of milk in one sitting. The other one agreed. We went back and forth, with our other friends joining in and saying that no one could drink that much milk that fast. We eventually decided that we'd have a milk-off where we both tried to drink a gallon of milk in an hour. We weren't able to have the milk-off that weekend and agreed to do it when we met again -- which would have been last Saturday.
So Saturday came and went, with no milk-off. Instead, I simply had a great time in Charlotte celebrating T's 30th birthday. They live near a lake and had rented a couple of WaveRunners. It was the first time I was on a WaveRunner and I really, really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I was only able to ride for about five minutes before we had to return them. Oh, well. Maybe some other time.
In addition to the WaveRunners, there was lots of yummy food. M made a really cool-looking cake for T. And there was Chex mix everywhere. Yummy, yummy, yummy! As a real bonus, I got to catch up with a handful of folks I knew from college but haven't seen in years.
We left before it was too late and I was able to get some good rest before teaching Sunday School on Sunday morning. Sunday was great, too. But that will be the subject of another entry. Stay tuned...same bat-time, same bat-channel!
