Alfred Hitchcock

It must be Alfred Hitchcock's birthday, 'cause google has one of their pretty special logos up on their homepage.

Except for The Birds, I really dig Hitchcock. Happy birthday, Alfred!

Surprisingly (for me I'm a big fan of the older talkies) I haven't seen that many of his films but I am quite partial to Rear Window (comes from liking Jimmy Stewart I suppose)

Yeah! I really, really dug "Rear Window." And "Rope" is one of my all-time favorite movies ever.

I'm a big Hitchcock fan as well -- i've read several books on him and his films. Film scholars tend to have a lot of opinions on this guy, and his life certainly lended itself to some interesting films and the characters within. I've got several on DVD I can bring in...

The Birds is really creepy for me
Funny you should mention that one. The Birds is set in Bodega Bay, which is about 10-15 miles from where I used to live in California. When we would go to the beach, we meant that we were heading down to Bodega Bay. It's not a prototypical, LA-style beach, but the dog liked to walk around and sniff the sand.

The fact that I first saw The Birds when I was living in California and recognized some of the Bodega Bay buildings that were used in the movie might have contributed to the creep factor.
