Weekend Update

One of the things I enjoy about working so close to where I live is that I'm able to come home for lunch and relax. Today, I get to spend some quality time with all my old friends from Bayside High as I enjoy an episode of "Saved By The Bell" on TV. Oh, cool. It's the episode where a girl tries out for the wrestling team. She's as good any of the guys on the team and they won't even give her a chance! I'm sure Zack will fix it somehow.

Anyway.... I had a great weekend. If I did the math right, I drove a little over 750 miles this weekend. Friday night, I headed to Raleigh for the Hayseed Dixie show -- which was great. Saturday morning, I drove from Raleigh to Burlington to drop off Mrs. Mellow for some business she had there. I headed back to Raleigh because I had some errands yet to run. After running my errands, I took a much needed nap. Once afternoon rolled around, I headed back to Burlington to pick Mrs. Mellow up and we continued on to Asheville for the Saturday night Hayseed Dixie show. Stella Blue in Asheville is a cool place to see shows. After the show, we headed back to Greensboro.

Yesterday morning, I woke up and taught my Sunday School class. I was able to catch a quick nap before heading back to Raleigh for the catt reunion, which was more subdued than usual. I quite enjoyed it -- I actually knew most of the people there and didn't feel as out of place as I often do at such events. Seems I won the "best dressed" award again -- I was still in my jacket/tie from church. It was very, very cool to catch up with friends that I don't see very often, or that I only keep up with via LJ and the occasional e-mail or IM conversation.

After the reunion, I headed over to a nice little dinner party hosted by naqerj and his lovely wife. Also in attendance were several friends I don't see often enough, and several people that I'm just beginning to get to know better. The food was incredible -- Scotch Eggs rule and pies made out of meat are super cool -- and the conversation was quite enjoyable. After supper, Nicole read my fortune in the grounds from my Turkish coffee. According to the grounds, I have a great, adventurous future in store -- including an attack of Flying Squirrel! It got too late too quickly, and I had to head back home.

By the time I got home last night, I was definitely ready for some sleep. So I didn't stay up too late before going to bed. It was a busy weekend, and exhausting, but it was a lot of fun.
