this week's music

I've been listening to a lot of music this week at work. It's a bug-fixing week, with not many meetings or need for interaction with other people on the team, so we're all pretty much in our own world with our headphones.

I've really gravitated to the section of my mp3 collection that contains gospel music and hymns. Not the "Christian Rock" section (DC Talk, Chris Rice, etc.), but the stuff I own that is traditional hymns and southern gospel music. It's been a long time since I've listened to a lot of these tracks. I'm even digging the Andy Griffith album, which so many people have laughed at. It's not always the quality of the vocals, or the arrangement. It's the words. It's how the particular words in these songs reach deep inside of me and touch my soul. It's like God's saying "Hi, Greg. I love you. Let's get together and chat."

I'm loving it. What a feeling of peace. What comfort. God is super-cool!
