Training cancelled

I had been scheduled to attend a training class in the DC area which runs from Jan 13-17. Because of project priorities at work, the my going to the training has been cancelled. That's really fine with me -- if I had gone to the training, I would have felt guilty for leaving my coworkers in a crunch time of the project, when the class was originally scheduled to coincide with the project being finished.

Anyway, I know several of you in the DC area were planning on seeing me when I visited. It'll probably be several months before I get up that way again.

Watchwords for my Sunday School class

Inspired by a comment to my post about receiving my watchword for the year, I decided to make watchwords to distribute to my Sunday School class tomorrow. Yesterday, Mrs. Mellow and aunt_toad picked up a paperback version of "Moravian Daily Texts: 2003" for use in generating the cards. Tonight, Mrs. Mellow and I went through and picked fifty verses that would make appropriate watchwords and cut them out of the book and glued them to index cards. I'm very excited about introducing this tradition to my class tomorrow.

Sunday School web pages updated

I just finished updating the Sunday School web pages with the class notes for Nehemiah. I had been really slack the past couple of months in keeping the page updated with the current notes. Now that I'm caught back up, I don't intend to slip back into such slackness again.

PIC (Potato Information Comment) of the Day

At the suggestion from walkingman, I present to you, my LiveJournal readers, with the Potato Information Comment of the Day.

Pringles potato chips are made from rotten potatoes.

I used to work on a potato farm, and we sold trucks of rotten potatoes to the folks who make Pringles. They power wash out all of the rot and mash the good potato that's left. Then they form the mashed potatoes into the tasty goodness we know as Pringles.

I can't promise a PIC every day, or even every week, but I may throw out a story from my potato grading days every now and again.
