First And Second Motorcycle Rides Of The Year

Yesterday marked my first motorcycle ride of 2004. I got home from church and it was so beautiful outside, that I thought I'd try to crank Rhonda up and see about going for a ride. I honestly didn't expect her to crank up -- it had been so long since I'd ridden her, that I expected the battery to need some charging. Imagine my surprise when she turned over. No muss, no fuss. So while she was warming up, I went inside to get my riding gear and get suited up. It was a quick ride out to Summerfield and back, but it was enough to remind me how enjoyable it is to be out on the open road.

This morning marked my second ride of '04. I rode the bike to work today. It was cold. Even though I've been here for over an hour, my legs are still chilly from the short ride.

Precision CD Burning

I thought that I was demanding about the conditions under which I would burn a CD-R, but this guy takes the cake. E.g.:
Unplug all other devices except what is absolutely necessary. The computer will regularly poll all devices to check that they are working, gather data, etc. This also interrupts the writing process. I have found that plugging in a USB mouse and moving it around while the disc is being written with a USB CD writer makes the sound "edgier" and gives an unnatural hardness and grain to cymbals.
The paper goes on to describe the steps this guy takes to minimize the vibrations that his external burner would normally encounter.

I tip my hat to this fellow and his quest for precision burning. And I take comfort in knowing that there's someone who's more ... concerned ... about this kind of thing than I am.
