Categorize The Music

Last night after supper, yarbiedoll and I stepped into a new/used CD store and picked up a few CDs. As we got back in the car, we both remarked that based on the CDs we picked up, it would be difficult to categorize our musical tastes: Susan Tedeschi: Live From Austin, TX, Tift Merrit: Tambourine, Beastie Boys: Licensed To Ill, and Duane Allman: An Anthology.

We listened to about half of the Tedeschi CD while driving around and it's great. I love how she handles Don't Think Twice, It's All Right and I was excited to see that Angel From Montgomery is on there, as well. I've been wanting to replace my cassette copy of Licensed To Ill with a CD for years, so I'm glad to have found that. Now I might have to pick up Hello, Nasty as well. I'm really looking forward to the Duane Allman CDs. It's even got The Weight (Aretha Franklin) on it, and if you've been paying attention to my recent posts, you know that I dig that song. It will be nice to hear this Tift Merritt CD. I wasn't very impressed with her first one, but it showed a lot of potential. And there's definitely a buzz around Merritt in the Americana scene, so she's definitely worth another shot.

After picking up the CDs, we drove around a bit -- killing time until the next showing of Ocean's Twelve. The movie had it's moments, but there were very few of them. I can't recommend the movie. Of course, since it's been out for about a billion months already, my recommendation comes too late to be effective.
