Constitution of Iraq

I've tended to stay out of political discussion of late -- I'd much rather listen to music -- but I've heard bits and pieces every now and again that the people of Iraq are working to create a Constitution for their new government and I'm struck with the following thought: why don't we [the US] just give them ours? I see two distinct advantages:
  1. Except for a little unpleasantness in the 1860s, the US Constitution has worked pretty well for the past couple of hundred years.
  2. We're not using it anymore; it would be a shame for it to go to waste.
