Busy, busy, busy

I've been too busy to really update lately. Highlights:
  • the furnace broke and I arranged to get it fixed
  • the home warrantee paid for itself when the furnace broke
  • FedEx screwed up delivering 2 of 3 packages I got yesterday
  • King Kong was amazing
  • last night, I ate cheese that had been on fire
  • I got a really awesome coat
  • it was really icy this morning and I don't know where my ice scraper is
  • my podcast website got hacked and used as eBay phishing scheme
If I get time, I'll expand on at least some of those points.

Fire Cheese

Opa! Yummy cheese

So yesterday was my birthday (and thank you for all the kind wishes, both online and off). To celebrate, after work, yarbiedoll and I headed to my favorite Greek restaurant in town -- Acropolis. OK, it might be the only Greek restaurant in town, but it's still my favorite. Now that we live closer to downtown, we might actually make it out to eat there more often. This was the first local restaurant I ever went to in Greensboro -- shortly after moving in, my aunt and uncle, who are long-time Greensboro residents, took me out to eat there. I've really only been a handful of times since. I anticipate dining there more often. Especially since our waitress told us that they have live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays -- a bouzouki player!

It was at this wonderful establishment that I enjoyed a plate of cheese that had been on fire. Somehow, I missed it on the appetizer menu, but when yarbiedoll pointed it out, I knew we had a winner. A few minutes after we ordered it, our waitress comes out with a plate of burning cheese. They take some cheese, mix in some olive oil, and light it on fire. It was really, really neat. Once the flames die down, they sprinkle it with lemon juice and everyone says "Opa!" I don't know what that means, but when someone's about to give me a plate full of cheese that had just been on fire, I'll probably say pretty much whatever you want me to say. I tried to take a picture of it, but I didn't think to do so until the fire had almost died down, so the picture didn't come out. yarbiedoll, however, took a picture of me eating a big bite of cheese and pita bread.

I don't know why I never thought of it before, but it's a wonderful thing to eat. First, you've got cheese. Cheese is great. Then, you set the cheese on fire! I mean, really, who doesn't like watching fire? This is now my favorite appetizer ever. I just wish I could remember what the name of it was.
