It's been a while since I updated, and it's been because I've been busy. I'll see about getting a series of quick hit entries and catching back up.

My first update is related to my walking. It's still going pretty well. I skipped Thursday because I took the truck to the shop before work on Thursday morning. Friday, I ended up taking the day off from work and had plenty of time to go for a walk, so I took a longer walk than I have been taking. All told, I logged about 4.5 miles, in about 1.5 hours. I did the entire section of the Latham Park Greenway, and when I got to the Hill Street end, I was feeling great, so I decided to go on and walk the Hill Street Connector to the Lake Daniel Greenway, just to see where it started and what that trail looked like -- once I get in better shape, I'm going to start bicycling these trails, and I'll end up covering more miles in the same amount of time, so I wanted to scope out the trails some.

I got over to the Lake Daniel Greenway and thought it was pretty cool. Then I realized that I was only 0.3 miles away from a geocache (I had my GPSr with me), so I decided to keep going. I'm not sure that the cache I was looking for is there anymore -- I found a burned out tree where I think it was hidden, but no sign of the cache. I'll keep an eye on the log for it and see if it comes up.

After going a little farther down the Greenway, I decided to turn around and go home. I just walked up Hill Street instead of going through the trail -- it made it a bit quicker, and since I had already been out so long, I didn't mind taking the shortcut.

Saturday, I didn't go out on a walk -- I went geocaching instead. Same for yesterday.

I haven't gone for a walk today, yet. Hopefully between leaving work tonight and going to the men's group meeting at church, I'll be able to make enough time to walk.

After all the walking for geocaching Saturday and yesterday, I'm beginning to notice that my feet are developing blisters. I'm going to have to get a better sock situation for my hiking boots (I wasn't wearing wicking socks, which might have contributed) or go ahead and take the plunge for some dedicated walking shoes. I'm going to stick with the boots for a little longer -- if I go ahead and get in good enough shape to bicycle regularly, I might not even get walking shoes. I already have shoes that will be great for biking.

No Walk Today

I don't have enough time to go for my walk between work and UMM tonight, so I'll let it slide. Plus I'm still tired and sore from the geocaching the past few days. I will definitely be getting up early tomorrow so that I'll have enough time for a walk before work.

So, since I'm not walking right now, I'm watching last night's West Wing and catching up on the (snail) mail that's piled up over the past few days.
