Working Through Systematic Theology

I've been working through my systematic theology book. I'm ten chapters into it, about 150 pages. Most of what I've read so far is pretty foundational, basic, and non-controversial. Most, but not all.

So far, I've been enjoying working through this. It's been making me think. I find myself arguing with the book -- which I love to do. Right now, I've got two bookmarks in the book -- one to mark as far as I've read, and another to mark as far as I've answered the end-of-chapter questions. Hopefully, I'll catch back up soon, but I find that I'm doing more of my reading just before going to bed, and it's not convenient to go back downstairs to type up the answers to the questions. So I've fallen a little behind. I'm going to catch up on a chapter of two of questions now, before I go to bed.

Sometimes (a lot of times), I wish I could spend more time wrestling with books like this. Thinking about theological matters. Being more actively involved in ministry. It's frustrating having to go to my day job, devoting so much of my energy to work, and leaving me drained at the end of the day. This has been a good weekend -- I haven't thought about work at all, I ran, I hiked, I rested. My chores around the house are getting neglected, so I need to pay more attention to that, but I really needed these two days to renew myself. I'm looking forward to a week as a summer camp counselor. I think that will be a good vacation, too.

Another Good Morning Run

I had another good run this morning, just 2.7 miles. It's interesting -- just like Saturday, after hitting the 2 mile mark, I felt great. I don't know if it just takes me two miles to warm up, if I'm modifying my running form, or what. But it felt great. If I didn't have to go to work, I would have probably ran another 15 or 20 minutes.

I wonder if there's something magical for me waiting at two miles.

Free Razor

Weird. I got a free razor in the mail today. I don't remember signing up for any Gillette mailing lists.

It's a shame I don't really shave much anymore. ;-)
