Man, I wish I had read that earlier. My sister-in-law lives in Charlottesville and I wanted to call her and ask if she felt it:)

Hmm... our plane left BWI around 8 PM. Just missed it! That's OK, I wasn't nostalgic for California anyway.

Nope, you were in it
That's 8PM, England time. It was around 4PM, Maryland time.

I felt it too
One more thing about California that I was glad to leave behind...who knew?

I was in downtown DC at the time, and thought that something felt like an earthquake (I'd been in 3 or 4 in my 5 years in California), but it's DC, so that's impossible. Must have been a truck.

I didn't know it was an earthquake until I read The National Review's Corner an hour later, and one of the writers there mentioned it.

The wife didn't know it was an earthquake until I told her that evening. She was wondering how the wind could possibly have shaken the house ;-)

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake 100 miles away is entertaining. Try a 5.2 at 1:30 in the morning with the epicenter 13 miles away. That kind of sucked.
