It should be quite an exciting and fun show. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a "special guest" or two that shows up for the performance. I've got my fingers crossed that Derek's wife, Susan Tedeschi, shows up for a song or two (or three or four...). When Susan joined The Allman Brothers Band last summer in Raleigh for a cover of Dylan's Don't Think Twice, she gained a new fan in me. I've been a fan of Don't Think Twice since I first heard it on a Peter, Paul, and Mary cassette when I was a kid. It's only been in the past couple of years that I took the time to look at the writing credits and discover that it's a Dylan song. I also really enjoy Johnny Cash's version of the song.
Wow. All of that previous paragraph is to say that I'm looking forward to the Derek Trucks show and hope there are "special surprise guests" that show up. But even if there are no surprise guests, it'll still be a great show -- Derek is worth more than the price of admission.
If you don't already have plans for New Year's Eve and you're anywhere near the Charlotte area, you should definitely join my buddies and me for the Derek Trucks show.
