Good job on the movie, Mr. Gibson.

Don't spoil the ending for me, OK? ;)

BTW what do you think about the Jews complaining about their portral? I have some thoughts on that, but those are quite premature as I have not yet seen the movie.

Well, the film is pretty accurate with the Gospel accounts, so some groups might be unhappy with their portrayal: Jews, Romans, Christ-followers, e.g. On the other hand, some groups might be happy with their portrayal: Jews, Romans, Christ-followers, e.g. Assuming that the Gospel accounts are true (as I believe to be the case), Gibson simply followed the script.

If people want to be offended, they'll find a way to be offended.

One might argue that an inoffensive treatment of the subject matter is, if even possible, completely undesirable.

Agreed. At it's core, the Gospel is offensive to most everyone since Man's innate sinful nature -- and how Man is completly incapable of overcoming that nature alone -- is the focus of much of the Gospel.

Bingo
That pretty much nails it, I think. And, as said above, if people are bent of being offended (which special interest groups often are, unfortunately), they'll find a way to be.

I found it to be pretty accurate, personally. Cavaziel's portrayal was more or less how I've percieved Jesus to be, which is warm and compassionate but with an undercurrent of authority. I'm satisfied. Oddly enough, it wasn't the beatings or the crucifiction that got me so much as Mary's moments.

The only question I have: is Joe Pescci going to be in the sequel?

Heh. I doubt it. But I think it would be cool if they made a sequel. Actually, I think there's enough material in the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles for two sequels.
