Hot Dogs And Mandolins

yarbiedoll and I headed over to the Cook-Out tonight after making a run to Wal-Mart. She wanted a shake, I thought I might try one of those hot dogs that deftly was raving about the other day. Before I dove into the dog, I took a picture of it. Oh, my. It was quite the tasty hot dog! It was a foot long and covered with homemade chili and slaw. I could have eaten two. But I had already had supper, so that was kinda like dessert. The other thing that deftly was right about was the need for a fork. I didn't even try to pick it up.

I haven't been posting in drmellow_mando lately. Sadly, that's because I've not been playing Loretta much lately. I even noticed today that my well built calluses are noticeably fading. I've not been getting much mando time in lately 'cause I've been pretty busy around the house lately, which has kept me in a near-perpetual state of exhaustion. yarbiedoll and I are getting the basement prepped for painting, which means cleaning a lot of clutter and moving a lot of heavy furniture around. It's been keeping me up till between midnight and two since the weekend. Coupled with hectic stuff at work, I've just not had the energy to pull Loretta out of her case very much. We've almost got everything moved now and yarbiedoll's planning on getting the painting done tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about it and I'm looking forward to having a much better organized living area downstairs.

I do miss the mando time, though -- I've passed up on three bluegrass jams since Sunday, and most likely won't be attending this month's meeting of High Lonesome Strings. I think next month will be better. We'll have things in better shape in the basement and I should be back on a more normal sleep schedule. I'm really looking forward to that, 'cause the bouts of exhausted insomnia are simply not fun at all.

I'm also looking forward to getting back on a more normal track at work, but that's probably going to get disrupted again soon -- with the Cingular acquisition just around the corner, I expect some time of "running around like a chicken with it's head chopped off."
