Thursday Morning Music Quiz (eazy)

"I pulled in to Nazareth, was feeling 'bout half past dead...."

Good music for a mid-morning. Hrm.... I bet Hayseed Dixie could work up a good version of this song.

It's a fairly easy one, but if anyone wants to play, the first person to correctly identify the title and artist for the song I'm listening to right now can have a point.

[ETA: The point goes to yarbiedoll for correctly identifying the title and original artist (see comments for answer). Bonus points to both bodnej and yarbiedoll for various other pieces of trivia.]

If you're thinking of the version that I keep hearing in the new Cingular commercials, I believe it's The Band doing their version of "The Weight".

Oooh! I know the connection to the Wallflowers. But I'll let Karen redeem herself.

sigh. you win. And I don't know the connection. I didn't listen to anything but classical music until a few years ago, so I'm just excited that I got the Wallflowers and the title before I resorted to google.

Thanks. I really want the other point, too, but I don't want to ruin it for everyone else. Here's my secret answer, inspired by watching Numbers last night:

JD(FFTW)=BD(OTB's)S

Well, I've got a lot of practice with those kinds of puzzles.

Re: as I just IM'ed to the good doctor...
and it helped that I knew that Jacob Dylan was the son of Bob Dylan. It's the only possible interesting thing about the Wallflowers :-)

OK. It looks like Karen concedes.

Jakob Dylan (frontman for The Wallflowers) = Bob Dylan (of The Band)'s son

Heh. My equation was actually off. Should have been

JD(FFTW)=BD(OTB)'sS

But it's OK. Multiplication works like that. ;)

I disagree with your correction to the equation here. If, indeed, it should be (OTB)'s, wouldn't that multiply out as Of's The's Band's instead of Of the Band's?

Then again, algebra was never my strong-suit.
