We have chipmunks living in our yard. They're pretty cute. I can watch them play along the backyard wall when I'm sitting at the computer. I can watch them play along the side yard when I'm in the living room. I can watch them scamper about in the front yard when I'm entering or exiting the house. A few days ago, I drove up and saw a chipmunk on the sidewalk. He didn't run away from me right away, but once I was out of the truck, he jumped into one of the drain pipes in the front yard wall. Pretty cool.

Anyway, we seem to have a few chipmunks living in our yard.

I think I'm going to try to domesticate them.

In my mind, chipmunks always have the voices that (the original) Chip and Dale had --- "After you!", "No, I insist!", "Thank you!". Maybe this will aid in their domestication. Or something.

I have already domesticated one of them. His name is "Chippy". Every time I sit down at the computer, he comes and sits on the wall outside the window and chirps at me.

And they like pecans. I have a basket of unshelled ones near the front door that I've been feeding them out of.

My Dad's neighborhood ran out of chipmunks. Turns out his cat ate them all.

At least the cat was cheap to feed.

That would be very interesting. I love these little critters.

We have a 6 foot silk ficus tree in the living room. My cat one time brought a chipmunk in, and she got away from the cat. The little gal apparently made a nest under the entertainment center and had a litter, unknown to all. One night the ficus tree was rattling all to pieces, and lo and behold it was a baby chipmunk! He let me capture him and I took him to a safe place outside. For the next week, one or two little chipmunks would repeat the initial tree climb until one day (8 little guys later) there were no more appearances. I then captured the momma - not near as easy - and got her out. I considered keeping one for a pet, but the cat would have never allowed it.

Best of luck!
