Korean War memorial

Korean War SoldierI spent the last few days in Washington, DC. The main purpose of the trip was to visit some of the memorials and museums. yarbiedoll and I travelled up there with a couple of our friends, one of whom had never been to DC. We had a great, exhausting, time. I had a little bit of time to catch up with my family, too.

One of the highlights of the trip was visiting some of the memorials on the Mall at night, especially the Korean War Memorial. The faces, they just jump out at you. It's haunting. I captured a few pictures -- one of them is included in this post (click on it for a bigger version), the others are in my gallery.

I've got a lot more pictures. I'm going through them bit by bit, creating (or logging) appropriate waymarks. My LJ projects are stacking up on me -- I've still got to report on my cruise vacation from a few weeks ago! But I just couldn't wait to share these photos from my nighttime explorations.

After spending the past few days concentrating on looking at memorials in DC, I've decided that I really want to go back with the specific purpose of photography, especially at night.
