Independence Day Plans

I don't have much in the way planned for Independence Day this year. We're thinking that we might grill out -- that's always fun.

I think, however, I will visit the final resting place of William Hooper and John Penn, two of the three North Carolina delegates to the Continental Congress who signed the Declaration of Independence. (The third signer, Joseph Hewes may be buried in Philadelphia.) Hooper and Penn are buried about three and a half miles from my house (closer to where we used to live).

When I think about it, it really amazes me that Greensboro is home to so much history -- history that I suspect most Greensboro residents are completely unaware. I try to take advantage of the history lessons that are available here.

Grilling
So... what kind of food do you think will best characterize our fair nation's victory in the fight for independence? I'll try to pick it up at the store tomorrow.

Re: Grilling
Ask Ben Franklin, and I'm sure he'd say turkey. I, however, am not interested in grilling up any turkey.

What's more American than steak? Not much, save apple pie. I could go for either some steak or some steak-kabobs.

The amount of history around here amazes me.

Spose that comes from being from a place where history usually gets imploded.

Have the best
