Waymarking NC Historical Markers: First ABC Store

One of the joys of being one of the officers for the North Carolina Historical Markers category on is that I get notified for every new submission to the category. This morning, a couple of new submissions were in the review queue, and one in particular stood out as interesting to me: F-68: First ABC Store. (For those of you unfamiliar with NC alcohol laws, "ABC" stands for "Alcoholic Beverage Control" -- it is the commission that regulates the sale of alcohol statewide.) So when NC Prohibition ended in 1935, the first ABC store opened up in Wilson.

I told yarbiedoll about it, and she pointed out that yesterday was the anniversary of the store's opening. Pretty neat.
