I <3 My Nike+iPod

I'm really enjoying my Nike+iPod. No, I don't have Nike shoes, but the system works fine with my shoes -- I just put the transmitter in a pouch on my shoe instead of directly in the sole of the shoe itself. I've found that I haven't needed to calibrate it -- the distances it reports tend to match up very closely to what my GPSr reports. I'm trusting it enough that I'll probably quit carrying my GPSr on some of my runs now and rely on the Nike+iPod to capture my run data.

One of the things that's really cool about it is that it has motivational extras included in it. For example, after my long run this weekend, Lance Armstrong congratulated me on completing my longest workout to date. Today, I had what I thought was a mediocre run, but when it was done, Paula Radcliffe congratulated me on running my quickest 1-mile. Wow, I didn't realize that I had a quick 1-mile in today's workout. That was neat to hear. I spent a few minutes setting up some goals on the Nike+iPod website this morning. They're all goals that cover a 4 week timespan, so it's the sort of thing to help keep you motivated. I'm the kind of person that is motivated by this sort of thing, so I think it's going to be very helpful as I continue my training, especially since I'm about to plateau on a distance for my long runs since I'm so far out from my planned marathon next year.

Now I need to start collecting songs for my "Running" playlist. So far, there are only three songs on it.

I don't know what's on your running playlist so far, but here are a few suggestions for you:

Running With The Devil - Van Halen
Born To Run - The Bruce
Runnin' Down A Dream - Tom Petty
No One Left To Run With - ABB
Running Out Of Days - 3 Doors Down
Run, Baby, Run - Sheryl Crow

and, of course...

Band On The Run - The Beatles

Ouch!

That last one is Wings. Years after The Beatles were no more.

Hey. I was doing good to come up with the song. It's too hard to keep up with the many (re)incarnations of the Beatles. *ducks and runs*
