Every year, the men's group at my church is responsible for leading the worship service one Sunday. It is always the same Sunday that the pastors are at Annual Conference. Leading the worship service includes everything from putting together the hymns, liturgy, etc. to having someone preach the sermon. For the sermon, sometimes they recruit from within the church and sometimes they ask a guest speaker to come in. This year, I was honored when the president of the men's group asked me to deliver the sermon.
The Particulars:
- When: Sunday, June 9 at both the 8:30 and 11:00 morning services
- Where: Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church (2600 Pisgah Church Road / Greensboro, NC)
- Scripture: John 9
- Sermon Title: Can I Get A Witness?
As a bonus, I haven't been able to find a substitute teacher yet, so I will most likely also be teaching my Sunday School class between the services at 9:45. We're studying 2 Chronicles and almost any Sunday is a fine Sunday for visiting. June 9 should be no exception.
It seems as though a handful of my relatives will be coming to visit for the occasion, as well. my wife is going to have lunch after the second service for out-of-town visitors. If you would like to join us for lunch, please let me know ahead of time so that we can make sure to have enough food. *grin*
